Mount Olympus

Day 59

Arkitsa to Plaka, Litochoro

We had company for the late afternoon and evening, a dog couple, more like the odd couple came to see Meg.

The dog was a big shepherd and the bitch was a short legged hound with big mama teets. They were both playing with Meg on the beach when the bitch got jealous and started to guard the dog. Bless her. We took Meg away, just in case. Gareth gave them some food and they chilled out by the van until late in the evening 😍.

We didn’t see the dogs in the morning so Meg had the beach to herself, digging her way to the centre of the earth!

Being off grid gives you a sense of freedom and as we still had enough supplies, i.e. water, gas and a spare loo cassette we looked for another lovely spot for the night.

In Plaka there are a few spots on P4N so we looked at a couple before choosing one quite remote and tucked away beside a huge water gully. It looks like it hasn’t been needed for a long while. When we got to this little spot there was one other van parked on the beach side of the gravel car park.

As we had travelled for approx 3 hours. We were hot and in desperate need to park the van in some shade. The best we could do was half of the van, just beside the fence of a garden that looked unlived in.

Not long after we arrived, another couple of vans came to stay for the night.

We took our chairs and books onto the beach and just chilled.

The view was amazing. In front of us, we could just make out Halkidiki across the Aegean Sea- our booked site for the weekend – and behind us was Mount Olympus, and all for free 😊.

A police car did a drive by early evening and waved to us, it’s good to know they patrol that area.
