Valtos Beach

Day 29

Valtos Beach, Parga, Greece

This morning we had a very lazy start and after a refreshing shower, we paid some attention to the wind-out awning, which for some reason wasn’t closing properly. Searching the internet we assume the problem stems from lack of use, we really don’t get it out enough. Anyway, once we had lubricated the locking mechanisms it was rolling in and out and closing as it should 👍.

The beach is less than 5 mins walk and we trundled down with our gear for an afternoon in the sun. It was flipping brilliant, we were on this huge beach with about 5 other people and no other dogs, so Meg had her freedom to run about, digging holes and burying whatever she could find.

We had taken her ball so Gareth started throwing it into the sea for her to retrieve. At first she was very pensive, I’m sure I heard her calling for little Bruce 😁but after a few times of Gareth paddling to waist height with her, she finally swam for the ball and stick. It wasn’t a one off either, she progressed to no hesitation. It was fab and we were both beaming from ear to ear, yes, she can swim 😍.

That was all well and good, but when she wasn’t swimming for the ball her choice of bury hole was not to our liking. Gareth ended up sliding into one of her pits in his chair and my beach blanket was smothered in flicked sand😬, nightmare.

Eventually, a strong breeze threatened to sandblast our skin off, so we packed up and walked up the back roads to the campsite, passing builders working on a Sunday, bless them. There were a few more campers on site when we got back, it’s now about a 3rd full.

Moving again tomorrow, towards the Peloponnese.
