Day 84 17.6.23
Ferioli & Verbania to Mettmenstetten, Switzerland
This morning I walked Meg outside of the site , the lake beaches were already busy with families and swimmers. What a great spot. We will definitely be back again.
Packed up, we headed off for Switzerland.
The views around the lake were awesome this morning, even with the hairy, narrow, windy, cliff edge road. I have to admit that at times I just didn’t look down
.

We passed through another couple of lovely towns and then saw an ongoing market in Verbania. Oooh let’s stop we said and found a parking spot on the edge of town.
What a surprisingly lovely little place. Little shopping lanes leading into cute little squares, not too busy as we guessed everyone else was down at the market by the port. It wasn’t a small market by any stretch, it just went on and on, stalls with all kinds of clothes, food, shoes and bags. It was so hot too, I think the market stalls were blocking the breeze off of the lake.

We didn’t buy anything after all that, we were getting fractious, so went for a coffee and a Fanta in the shade back in the old town.
On the road again, we queued for the Gottard tunnel with snow topped mountain views to entertain our slow approach. We did this tunnel last time, it’s 16,942km long, we entered at 15.32pm and exited at 15.47pm
.

It wasn’t long before we arrived at the Swiss family’s residence, who welcomed us with open arms, a shaded balcony and cold drinks, lush
.
We had a good catch up and retired after a delicious homemade burger, cooked on the BBQ and plenty of chilled rosé
.
