Santa Giustina Lake

GK Tours 2025. Thursday 26th June

Posina to Santa Giustina, Italy

We had a slow start this morning. It got hot really quickly so to cool myself down I did the very unusual thing of having a cold shower!! 😲 yes, I did and I even washed my hair! Anyone that knows me will know I don’t do cold water but needs must when you are cooking from the inside out 😂.

Even though we were in a lovely spot we decided to move on and chose another lake spot. This one was a little further north in Predaia, at a lake called Santa Giustina.

There aren’t any van services there, and luckily, we didn’t need them.

When we rocked up there were a couple of vans parked on the grass under trees, so we grabbed a spot for ourselves.

The colour of the lake is amazing, a gorgeous milky light blue. It was quite a steep trek down to it and there wasn’t a lot of beach to be had, so we settled under a tree and took turns having a dip.

There were lots of minnows swimming around and unusually, this didn’t put me off.

There is a bar and cafe at the bottom of the hill, with kayak and boat hire if you would like it.

Apparently at weekends they have parties here, so it can get noisy, but what a perfect place for it.

Late in the afternoon black clouds rolled in, the promised thunderstorms had arrived. We got back to the van just as it started to rain. It actually wasnt rain to start with, it was chickpea sized hail, that covered the ground in a white layer in minutes.

We had a little shade from the trees thank goodness while we sat in the van, doors and skylights closed but all side windows open.

It thundered and lightninged intermittently throughout the evening and cooled the air to a wonderfully chilled temperature 😂.

More vans arrived in the evening, after the daily charge period had ended, and departed early the next day.
