GK Tours 2025. Wednesday 2nd July to Thursday 3rd July
Olching to Lindenberg and Wangen im allgau, Germany
Wednesday.
We said a fond farewell to Konstanz, Wolfgang, her husband and Gaia, and the beautiful lake before heading to another lake.
Lake Waldsee, Lindenberg, was in a pine forest so good for dog walking.
The Aire was a five minute walk away and once we were set up we headed down to have a look. The water was brackish so of course I didn’t venture in, but Gareth did. There was also a ban on dogs here too.
We sat for a couple of hours under the pine trees and then on our way back, popped into the lakeside hotel for a drink, only to find the bar was shut! Haha, bad timing on our part.

There have been threats of thunderstorms for a few days now but we haven’t really been troubled by any.
Thursday.
I was up early and took Meg for a walk around the lake. It was lovely and cool and she had a good run off lead.
The town is close by and we think that the local schools use the lake area for sport activities. Med and I passed loads of them on the way back to the van, and apparently Gareth had been woken by them passing the Aire
.
The temperature was supposed to be lower today but it didn’t feel like it. The van thermometer showing 29° at 10am as we set off.
Today’s stop is a lovely smart Aire (wohnmobilestellplatz in german) just outside the town of Wangen im Allgau, recommemded by our airbnb hosts.
Another beautiful place with many medieval buildings painted brightly on tidy and clean cobbled streets. The walk from the Aire is along a small river and then through a college complex, which leads you into the main streets.

There are quite a few bronze statues dotted around and one that spits water at you as you pass
, luckily we triggered the sensor early so didn’t get caught. We’re not sure what it is for but it has about 5 men all bundled on top of each other, so maybe a comedy theme.

We sat and had a drink while listening to a busker who sang Country Roads
, and then after another wander we had an ice cream. We haven’t had many of those on this trip.
The sky was getting darker so we headed back to the van. Minutes later we were battening down the hatches as the promised storm let rip.
It was so nice to feel the cool wind as the rain lashed down. There wasn’t a lot of thunder and lightning, and after about half an hour it stopped.
Its been cooler for the rest of the afternoon
so we’ve had a lovely sit out this evening.
