Thursday 28th May to Friday 29th May 2026, Baia dei Turchi, Otranto, Puglia, Italy
Nothing much has happened here apart from slogging around from shade to shade, and visits to the beautiful beach.
The site is on a working farm, though you wouldn’t know it as there is no noise apart from campers coming and going. The plots are very spacious with a choice of electricity in the sun or no electricity under pine trees. Haha, we’ve been caught out like that before and although we have had a new larger lithium battery installed, we still didn’t want to run the risk of no power for the fan.
There is also the luxury of a food delivery service. It’s pretty cool. You use a QR code and then select from the list what you would like. It’s delivered to your van in the mornings 
. Added to this, a selection of food and drinks are available from the smart little reception. So we had no need to go out to the shops 
.
Thursday
We popped down to the lido section of the beach, ordered drinks and hired sunbeds, dragging them as close to the rocks behind us as we could and plonked ourselves down!
The natural shade provided by the rocks was just perfect for Meg, she wasn’t even interested in rescuing Gareth when he took a dip in the sea!
Friday
When we popped down to the beach this afternoon, we were told dogs weren’t allowed on the Lido part of the beach 
as it was now getting busy. What a shame. So, we just popped outside the lido area on to the ‘free’ part of the beach.
It’s a bit breezier here today and the sand was being whipped up into our faces. We didn’t stay for too long, so lucky really we didn’t spend out on sunbeds .
It was clearer out to sea today and we could just make out the landmass of Albania, I think we are directly opposite Vlore, a visit we made 2 years ago.
Oh yes, on our way to the beach, as we came out of the pine forest, Gareth, who was behind me, gave me a very clear instruction to STOP. He said look to your right, so I obviously looked left 
and missed a whip snake crossing the path!
Eek!
They don’t bite or anything but I could have trod on it if Gareth hadn’t noticed it. Not even sure how I missed it as he said it was black and approx 1.5m long!!! Luckily, Meg missed it too though she could smell where it had slithered into the bushes and was very interested!
Anyway, Meg has had 3 early morning runs on the beach and we have recharged ourselves and the van. It’s such a chilled place, it’ll be hard to leave tomorrow.
