Cyprus Day 3: The kids visit

Me and the kids + grandkids

After the heavy night yesterday, we just relaxed around the pool this morning after another splendid hotel breakfast. It had rained overnight, so the outdoor space during breakfast was limited. We started off inside in the dining area but to be honest, the noise from the other guests combined with all the cutlery clacking was not helping with my hangover in the slightest. We noticed that K&M had snagged one of the few outdoor tables, so joined them for the remainder of breakfast.

Lisa, Louise, Stammo & Michael were all due to arrive today. Lisa has booked herself in the Almyra whereas the others are further down towards Chlorakas.

I had arranged for all the kids to visit the hotel this morning for a swim and lunch. The towel boy was getting arsey about the amount of towels I had asked him for (you’re only allowed 2) so I stomped off to reception to find out the rules. I had asked during check-in and was told that it was no problem but that isn’t the case. The desk manager (a very helpful chap) told me that guest fees are €40 each per day! By now it was too late to change the plan and the weather was still iffy so I just said OK and went back to the pool.

The kids and grandkids all arrived more or less on time and just wandered through the hotel straight to the pool. As it turned out, that was a good move as nobody questioned them and saved me over €400!

We had lunch in the poolside restaurant in a table of 13.

All very nice and the younger ones enjoyed the sushi on offer. Kelly and I just about managed a Greek salad each. Partly because we were still full from breakfast, and partly because we were still feeling a little “under the weather”!

After lunch the kids had a splash-about and we just enjoyed being in amongst them all.

I think the last time we were all together like this must have been at Izzie & Nic’s wedding back in 2022!

For our evening meal and bearing in mind tomorrow was going to be a big day for the wedding, Kelly and I wandered not very far to a Chinese restaurant down from the Almyra called The Imperial.

It was fine. The restaurant has very nice surroundings, We sat upstairs on the balcony area so had a nice view but the food was bland. After the inevitable crispy duck pancake starter to share, I had ordered the House Special Chow Mein which came dry. It’s my own fault as I should always check but I like the “wet” chow mein (with soy sauce). We also shared a chicken in black bean sauce (I think) and that was fine too.

After dinner, we headed to Friends Bar to meet up with the Bar Street Gang for a nightcap. They’d eaten there and said it was very good.
