Today we flew back to UK sad to leave after a really enjoyable week away with the gang and the family.
I’d tried for a late check-out at the Almyra and we weren’t due to be picked up for the airport shuttle until 2pm. Unfortunately they had an early check-in planned for our room as as we’d been upgraded, we couldn’t really complain. They happily stored our luggage and offered the Spa as a freshen up area which we didn’t really need.
After a last lovely hotel breakfast and a final lounge around the pool Kelly and I got ourselves organised, packing our bags and leaving them for safe-keeping with reception. We hopped across the road for a quick snack in one of the sandwich bars there (a very average cheese & ham toastie for me) before meeting up with Keith &Mandy for the shuttle back to the airport.
It turned out to be a massive coach that couldn’t get into then hotel drive and parked up outside. No bother, we were soon away and I have to say, the process through Paphos airport was superb.
No delays at bag drop. None at Security and just a short one at Passport control. Before we knew it, we were in the Departures Lounge along with a million others waiting for our flights to be called.
Richard and Denise had booked for a few extra nights (lucky them) so they were staying in Paphos, but we met up with Chris, Sue, Baz and Helen in Departures. Usually Kelly and I would hop into the lounge before a flight but it was full. Keith & Mandy managed to get in. I spent the remaining time in the welcome outdoor bar area for a few last cigs before our 5 hour TUI flight back to Exeter.
The fight itself was fine. We were boarded fast and had the same Extra Legroom seats as on the way out. 5 hours is a long time though and I was pleased when we landed in Exeter.
Getting through Exeter Airport was as easy as we’d hoped it would be and before long we were saying our goodbyes to the Bar Street Gang and heading home in the car. Once home, the heating was quickly fired up!
We met up with Baz and Helen in the pub the following evening whilst Richard & Denise were still partying with Neil & Lorraine in Paphos – the lucky blighters!
