Krk to Zadar

Krk to Zadar, Croatia

Day 13

We had an early (9am) start as our next stop was a 4 hour drive away. Gareth wanted to do the coast road, because, as you can imagine it is beautiful.

Well, as beautiful as it was, I’m not sure it was worth 4 tortuous hours of twisty, up and down bends!

I felt quite queezy and anxious at the end of it and was so thankful when we neared the campsite. Halfway we wished there was a quick exit that would take us out onto the main road, sadly we were out of wishes that day.

We did pass through some lovely little coastal villages though, that we have earmarked for our return. To be honest, had we broken the journey with one nighters, it would not have been so bad. Just goes to show that sometimes, booking ahead doesn’t pay.

One plus was that the sun had been shining on us most of the way and we felt very warm in the van. Arriving at our campsite, the sun was still out and it was lovely to not be swaddled in winter gear.

Because we had pre-booked we were upgraded from a ‘blue’ ACSI pitch to a ‘gold’ one 😁, what was that I said about booking ahead 😁? We are parked just 3 rows from the pool and entrance to the beach, with the shop, restaurant, bar and sauna on our right and the shower and wash block to our left. Perfect.

This site is huge. They have glamping tents – with Aircon! – lodges and van pitches. They also have overnight parking – like Aires – so very handy if you are just travelling through.

Meg was very happy to have another beach on her doorstep and showed her appreciation when we popped out for a stroll once we were set up, watching her play as the sun was setting made the journey worth it ❤️.
