Krk Island tour

Krk harbour

Day 12

This morning we laid in listening to the bells from the Cathedral in the town.

After a late breakfast we walked into the town, once again it’s really a stone’s throw from the campsite. There’s a quaint little harbour with a handful of fishing boats, lots of private yachts and then hire boats and pleasure cruises, if that’s what you like to do. It’s a very tidy promenade but as they are still preparing for the season, not everywhere is open. Having said that, there is still ample choice for eating and drinking.

We sat facing the water and had a coffee and Radler before taking a stroll around the old town. It has some Roman relics – we couldn’t find them and think they aren’t open yet – a Venetian castle – yes, closed when we got there 😄 and old cobbled streets with a lot of little information boards promoting the history of Krk.

Walking back out onto the harbour we chose a restaurant serving fresh fish. Gareth chose black noodles with shrimps and mushrooms in a tomato sauce and I chose a fish – like a red snapper – that was cooked on the grill. We tried something new too, a spread called Ajvar, a thick red pepper dip to have with bread or your salad. Absolutely delicious 😋

Coming back through the campsite we took Meg for another walk along the Camino trail before returning to the van for a well earned cuppa.

We really like Croatia and can’t wait to discover more of her beauty.
