Olympia

Day 37 1st May 2023

Palouki to Kalo Nero via Olympia

It has rained overnight, but is still warm. Off to Olympia today, think we may have to dig out our raincoats and ☔.

Well, raincoats were donned and into Olympia we rode…. only to find it closed, yes, it’s May Day bank holiday here too 😀.

We weren’t the only ones either as lots of tourist coaches arrived shortly aftewrwards. The strnage thing was that the Park Attendents were still in their Toicket booths but wouldn’t let anyone in!

Taking time out for a coffee, spinach pie and custard pie, we discussed our next move.

The campsites in Olympia don’t have a good write up and though there was a free spot, it was near to some overflowing bins, so we decided to come back to Olympia another day.

We have now set up on a free stop for the rest of the overcast day on a beachfront in Kalo Nero just north of Kyparissia. There are lots of tavernas here, all busy with the bank holiday crowd and so nice to see.

The beach is beautiful, not just the view but there is an abundance of wild flowers growing along the edge, lilac, white, yellow with the odd deep red poppy 🥰, just lovely 🌼🌺🌸.

Beautiful sunset tonight too ☺️

After some reflection we have changed the name of our trip from the ‘Big Adventure’ to the ‘Should Be Nice When It’s Open’ trip 🤣.
