Day 54. 18.5.23.
Nea Peramos to Athens via Glyfada.
After a local coffee and some shopping we set off towards tonight’s stop – a camperstop near the airport. Not to waste the glorious weather we stopped on a beach in Glyfada on the outskirts of Athens city.
Driving along the motorway we caught a glimpse of the Acropolis before the road took us towards the coast.

I never realised that there were lovely beaches in Athens. They were very busy, and looked really nice. Sadly the available parking was full here.
The tram runs along the coast, so you could use it to get into the centre. It’s a very smart area, just after the port of Piraeus and definitely a good choice if you wanted the best of beach and city.
Our chosen spot was a little marina with some lovely, expensive yachts moored up. The parking area is scruffy but free and right next to the beach which thankfully had sunshades for us and Meg to use.
We sat in the sun/shade, had lunch from the van and gave Meg a run before piling back into the van (which by then was 34° internally!) and coming to the camperstop called Rolling Turtles. Cool name, they hire motorhomes and vans but let guys like us stay in the vacant spaces when we need to – if they have the room.
We are the only ones here this evening, it rained for 5 minutes and has now cooled down.

Once Beth arrives tomorrow we’ll be off to a beach campsite for the weekend so will post again on Monday night.
Have a good weekend
.
