GK Tours 2025. Wednesday 25th June
Lago di Posina, Vicenza, Veneto, Italy
Wednesday arrived with two bleary eyed sweatheads. No sleep had been had and we were feeling it.
Our plan today was to head up into the cooler weather in the mountains, we checked the weather and set a course for a lake in Pin-Vallene.
Sadly, we didnt make it. An hour into our journey, just before Soave, we hit a huge traffic jam on the main A4 motorway. Google said an accident but all we knew was that we didn’t move for an hour. All 3 lanes of the motorway were packed, mainly with hgv’s going nowhere.
Eventually the road opened up, but we could see on google that there was more red stuff to come.
With this in mind, we came off of the motorway at Soave – which had been just 2.5km away when we got stuck – and headed back and up into the mountains to a different overnight stop.
We passed the stranded traffic which went back for miles, all out of their cars, it was 30+
.
So, we have settled for the night by another lake and river in the little town of Posina. But the weather app sold us a wrongen. 3 apps told us it would be approx 26° today here, ha, it’s 19.45pm and still 29° in the van.
Apparently the guy who oversees the Aire (Area Sosta Camper Posina) we are on said the the temperature will drop considerably this evening, we can only pray.

One thing Posina is famous for is being near The Road of 52 Tunnels. Never heard of it? Neither had we. Look it up (https://www.facebook.com/SentieriGrandeGuerra/) , its an amazing feat of engineering, comprising of a donkey trail used to transport goods and weapons etc during WW1.
Amazing what you find when you wander.
