Xmas period

GK Tours. Days 51 to 54

Tuesday 24th to Friday 27th December 2024.

Villacana

Christmas Eve was spent with the couple we had met at a bar on our first night here. They had found a bar open for the evening, with live music and food just a 25 mins stroll from the campsite.

It was lovely catching up with them again. The bar was an English haunt – the reason why it was open – and so was full of expat locals. Some had Santa hats or jumpers on so a festive mood filled the pub. We sat outside under the gazebo with electric heaters 😀, it would have been too noisy inside for the dogs anyway.

Xmas Eve drinks

The waitress came by with free tapas every now and again and then later we ordered a small meal to soak up the alcohol 😀.

We had met the guys at about 6pm and by 10pm we were ready to go home. We arrived back at the vans a little quicker than expected as a couple of fireworks were set off in the area and Meg hot footed it back. Bless her.

Christmas Day was spent having a cooked breakfast, eaten outside in the sunshine ☀️, a walk on the beach in the sun and strong breeze followed by an amazing van roast, compliments of A&J, with stuffing balls and trifle coming from the Darvall van 😀.

AJ had surprised us with some funny Christmas hats they had bought in Ale-hop, which were worn with pride and to the entertainment of the campsite.

At one stage Jane and I lost control laughing at a picture taken of Andrew – aka Pope Tree – who looked positively evil mixed with an Enid Sharples ‘hair in curlers’ look 😂.

Gareth will forever be known as Pope Turkey 😂.

Boxing day and today has been spent loafing around, walks along the beach, drinks in the local beach bar ending with a wedding anniversary meal in a fab restaurant across the road in Cancelada called La Finca.

We were having trouble finding a restaurant open that would take the dogs and thought we would try La Finca after it had been recommended to us by our new friends.

They were more than happy to accommodate us all, inside or outside. The outside was a fully enclosed terrace with patio heaters, wonderful.

What can I say. We had hit the jackpot. The food was amazing, the staff were amazing and we had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.

Happy Anniversary to us!
Wonderful Lunch

This is definitely a place to return to if we’re back in the area.

Tomorrow we leave for a quick stop in Jerez so we’ll catch up with you then.

Hope you all had a fabulous Christmas xxx
