Tues 23rd April.
Wednesday started rainy as we made our way to Bruges for our Tourne dealer to complete a few minor warranty works.
It was good to meet Patrick again, who informed us there is now a Tourne dealer in the UK. That’ll be handy for future requirements.
Everything was sorted by about 2pm. Instead of going back to Middlekerke we decided on a stop in Blankenberge. A name that sounded familiar but couldn’t think why
.
Once we parked up, we headed off for the beach again, this time the tram runs in front of the dunes. The path through the dunes leads to a walkway with wooden steps every now and again for you to get down to the beach.
Blankenberge is close to Ostend. As we came over the dunes we could see cruise ships and ferries leaving the port of Zeebrugge.
We walked towards the pier, the tide was far out, exposing all the concrete stanchions. There was a restaurant at the end of the pier and had cars parked outside! Blimey, what we thought was the walkway was actually a road.
Once Meg was worn out, we walked up to the Promenade.
The promenade is undergoing seasonal adjustments – something we are used to as we mostly travel out of season – but was still an enjoyable walk, checking out all of the open bars and restaurants before choosing a pretty one
.
How lovely to sit down for Moules and Frites, with a cheeky glass of house red. We even had a pudding. Gareth’s was similar to a Café gourmand and mine was strudel and cream.

We were certainly ready for bed now
