Heading out

“On the road again”

Tues 22nd April.

As usual our trip started by visiting family in Reading and Southampton, staying at A&J’s for which we are eternally grateful.

We left the UK on Tuesday 22nd April, taking the Channel Tunnel train to Calais.

Our first stop was an Aire in Middlekerke, Belgium. We had an appointment with the van’s dealer in Bruges – about 30 mins away – on Wednesday to sort out a few little things under warranty.

The Middlekerke spot is very close to the impressive beach, walking through a mobile home park and sand dunes to the beach road. The tram runs along the beach road too, so you have to be watchful crossing the unguarded rails.

The beach was deserted, just how Meg loves it. After a long day in the van, this was just what we all needed. It was blowy and chilly but wasn’t raining.

We weren’t out for long, just enough to blow the cobwebs away. Back in the van we heated up leftovers for our dinner and went to bed early.
