Saint Florent to Calvi, Corsica
Tuesday came and it was dry. The sun was very warm as we packed up.
Whilst I was in the shower 2 fighter jets flew over the campsite. The noise was deafening and Gareth said everyone was looking up with a ‘WTF’ look on their faces 
.
Just as we were leaving the site we heard more aeroplane noise and were treated to a rescue squad of 4 seaplanes doing manoeuvres on the sea in front of us. Those anoraks amongst you will love the footage we caught. What a treat 
.
We had a lovely drive along the coast road again, blinded by the beauty of the blue sea and the green hills contrasting with very craggy rocky hills every now and again.
We stopped at a viewpoint with a tiny cafe, aptly named Sunset Cafe, had a drink and a snack before heading into Calvi.
We’ve chosen a campsite which gives ACSI discount so is @ €23 a night. The campsite is called: Camping Les Castors
Once set up we walked down to Calvi town centre via the beach, only to see that dogs aren’t allowed 
, won’t be stopping here long then!
So onwards we went into the town. What we did notice on entering the beach was a cruise ship at anchor and the Clipper that our new friend Enid was sailing on. There was also a Clipper moored in the marina, in need of some tlc.
It would have been funny had we bumped into her.
There’s a Citadel in Calvi too. Very imposing sat on the promontory. We walked towards it along the marina and sat for drinks at a comfy bar right on the water’s edge. It was just lovely, the sun was shining and the breeze was just enough to keep us cool.
Walking up through the Citadel walls we were wowed at every turn by the views, the water, the boats – the cruise ship turned out to be the Seabourn Ovation.
Climbing up to the Cathedral, we noticed an ice-cream parlour right opposite. Well, we thought we’d earned it and sat down to enjoy our double dollops – pistachio and vanilla for Mr G, strawberry and raspberry for me (a mistake i hope not to make again, one should always team a berry with vanilla 
).
We were, by now, tiring and headed back to the van, via a very, very lovely patisserie, acquiring croissants, pain au chocolate and baguette for later.
There’s a lovely swimming pool at this campsite, pity we’re not staying tomorrow as it’s the first one I’ve felt like using . Still, I’m sure there will be others.
