This morning we packed up and drove for a couple of hours through very hilly (Sierra) regions, some covered in greenery, others rocky and barren. This area is very fertile, reflected in the amount of polytunnel-like structures, sometimes as far as the eye could see, orchards of trees, bare at this time of year and orange and lemon groves currently being harvested.

Our next booked campsite is Nerja but that is too long of a drive to do on one go – when you don’t need to – so today’s destination was Mojacar. Gareth and I had stopped here in 2022 but A & J had never been.
There are 2 parts like most coastal towns, the beach town and then the old town. As the sun was shining again we parked opposite the beach in Mojacar Playa.

They are very strict here regarding motorhomes and campervans. You can only park on the beach or beach side of the coast road if you are 5m long or less. We know this because we were politely turfed off of the beach in 2022 by the police
.
Nevermind, there are a few carparks you are allowed to stop overnight – though they are also very strict about ‘camping’ behaviour, so no side windows are to be opened, no steps out, no chairs, tables etc., skylights are fine so at least we won’t boil tonight
.
Taking a walk along the main road we stopped for a drink and then as we moved on, the very next place we passed were offering Sunday Roasts
. Woohoo, Eureka Jane said
.
A very large, lovely roast dinner with 10 different vegetables – excluding roast and mashed potatoes was had by us all, and two very lucky pooches had the leftovers for their tea
.
A&J even managed to share a rhubarb crumble with custard
.

Carb overload kicked in and afternoon siestas were calling the lads.
Jane and I took the dogs for a walk on the beach, with coats on now as it was getting chillier before Jane’s cousin, who lives near Mojacar popped down to see them. What a great opportunity for a family catch up
.
Hopefully the road noise will die down in a bit and we’ll get a peaceful night’s sleep
