GK Tours. Day 63 to 64
Sunday 5th to Monday 6th January 2025.
Carvoeiro to Comporta, Portugal
Saturday morning we headed off for Carvoeiro to have a good old catch up with Ness & Rob, good friends we haven’t seen for 2 years.
Much alcohol and food was consumed as we caught up with events and experiences since our last visit. A visit or two to Carvoeiro village, a beautiful little seaside town busier at this time of year than I would have expected.
It rained most of Sunday and as our hosts were top notch, we burdened ourselves upon them for another night 
. It was very cosy, sat on a proper sofa, in front of the log burner, watching Gavin and Stacey’s Christmas Special with them and finishing the evening with an Indian takeaway 
.
Meg loved it so much we had to ply her with treats to leave this morning, especially as the sun was once again shining and warming her furry black body!
Reluctantly (for us) we had to thank Ness and Rob for their fab hospitality and continue on our journey.
It was a mix of rain and shine today, with double rainbows parading themselves in front of us in the sky as we made our way to Comporta. Apparently it’s now home to a few celebrities, but you would never know it.
We visited this little place a couple of years ago and saw dolphins in the sea 
. Lucky opportunities like that aren’t always repeated but we wanted Meg to have a beach run and knew it was a good spot.
There were many storks atop masts en route, but arriving in Comporta we were surprised that there were none there. Last time they were everywhere in the town.
Anyway, we walked to the beach on a mixture of paths through rice beds and boardwalks as we neared the beautiful long sandy beach across the bay from Setubal.
The sea was quite rough today and, asking the waitress in the bar where we stopped for a drink, she said the sea was too rough today to see the dolphins, oh well, we’ll just have to come back another time .
Meg had a couple of runouts, playing with a doggy friend for a little bit before we headed back to the van.
It’s been warm today, a slight chill in the breeze but as soon as the sun goes down it gets really chilly, so back in the van now with a cup of tea and a mince pie 
.
